Most sign-in problems come down to three things: the type of account you use, your company's IT settings, and the email address you were invited on. Find your situation below.
"Only business Google accounts can be used"#
You clicked Continue with Google with a personal Google account. MDB Builder only accepts Google Workspace accounts, the ones your company manages. A private Google account is refused even when it uses your work email address.
What to do: sign in with your company's Google Workspace account, use Continue with Microsoft if your company uses Microsoft, or use Continue with e-mail.
My Gmail, Outlook.com or Hotmail address is refused#
MDB Builder is for business accounts only. Personal addresses such as Gmail, Outlook.com, Hotmail, Yahoo or iCloud are refused with every sign-in option, and they can't be invited either.
What to do: sign in with your work email address. Colleagues on the same email domain end up in the same company.
"Your organization blocked Microsoft sign-in for this app"#
Your organisation only allows external apps after an IT admin has approved them.
What to do:
- Continue with Continue with e-mail. It signs you in with a verification of your email address.
- Ask your IT department to allow SSO access for MDB Builder. After that, Continue with Microsoft works for everyone in your organisation.
"Your organization requires SSO sign-in"#
An admin of your company has switched on Require SSO sign-in. Everyone on your email domain must then sign in with Microsoft or Google; Continue with e-mail no longer works for you.
What to do: click Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Google. If your IT department hasn't approved MDB Builder yet, you can't get in that way: contact your company's MDB Builder admin, who can turn the setting off. See Single sign-on.
"Your session has expired" or "You were signed out on all devices"#
For your security, MDB Builder signs you out after a period without activity and after a maximum session length. Sign out on all devices in Personal settings also ends every session at once.
What to do: sign in again with the option you used before.
"Your sign-in provider did not confirm this email address"#
MDB Builder only links a sign-in to an account when Microsoft or Google confirms that the email address belongs to you.
What to do: sign in with Google Workspace or your company's Microsoft account, or ask your IT administrator to verify your email domain.
"We could not link this sign-in to your existing account"#
An old sign-in is still connected to your browser session.
What to do: click Sign out and return to login, then sign in again with the account you meant to use.
I see my private workspace instead of my company#
After signing in you work in the workspace you used last. Your private workspace and your company are separate: projects in one don't show in the other.
What to do:
- If you are already a member of the company, switch to it. See Find your way around.
- If you aren't a member yet, the yellow banner at the top shows the companies on your email domain. Click Request to join, or ask a colleague to invite you.
- Check that you signed in with the right email address. An invitation is linked to the exact address it was sent to.
"Your access to … is inactive"#
An admin deactivated your membership, for example because the plan's member limit was reached. You keep your account, but you can't open the company's projects and MDBs. The message names the admins to ask.
What to do: ask one of those admins to activate you again. Your other workspaces stay available under Switch workspace.
The invitation email doesn't arrive#
What to do:
- Check your spam or quarantine folder.
- Sign in to MDB Builder with the invited email address anyway. Pending invitations also show on your dashboard under You have been invited, with Accept and Decline buttons.
- Still nothing? Invitations expire after a while. Ask the person who invited you to check Pending invites on the Members tab. An invite marked Expired has to be sent again.
Invitations only go to addresses on the company's email domain. A colleague on another domain can't become a member; share with them as a customer or supplier instead.
